Life in rehab

Hi Everyone.  It took almost 8 hours yesterday from when the doctor told Jason that he was going to be moved to the rehab unit until we were actually settled in a room.  That is how things go in a hospital.  What a pain.  Anyway, we are thrilled with the doctors and staff here.  Everyone is compassionate, respectful and patient.  Jason is doing physical and cognitive therapy a total of three hours a day.  At this stage it is exhausting for him.  He is working very hard and has a good attitude.  He likes to be challenged.  He is starting to accept that he has a brain injury but it is hard for him because he doesn't remember the accident and his head does not hurt.

Suzanne and I are running on very little sleep.  I am going to close out now but will try to give you some details of the therapy tomorrow.  It is fascinating.

Be safe and keep your positive energy coming.  P

  1. Good point about the ICU being so distracting, I never really thought about how rough it could be on someone with head trauma. Jason's theories may seem a bit "out there", but they do demonstrate some good deductive logic, and that's certainly encouraging. Jason should be a handful for his therapists but that's good thing!

  2. Now that Jason's is in a choas-free environment, hopefully his therapies will continue to yield excellent results. As I've read your post these last few days, I admire your love and courage you all have for Jason and each other. This is the type of positivity that will get you all through this. Thank you all for the daily posts!

  3. Life is often confusing, but easier to accept when we are in the middle of our usual routines. Life is totally turned upside down and all around for everyone when something like this has happened. I hope you all find your anchors in each other and all the people who care about you (and that includes all of us). One thing I know and take comfort in is that Jason is so strong, so smart, with so many people who care about him. Let us know how we can help...

  4. Your collective strength and love is inspiring and will surely sustain you through this process. It is truly comforting to be part of a bigger source of positive energy working together on Jason's behalf. You're never far from my thoughts...
